Facts About Belarus & Latvia May 19, 2017
This is a 2021 IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Championship application video.
In 2021, as some of you probably know, the Ice Hockey World Championship will take place in Minsk (Belarus) and Riga (Latvia).
I was lucky enough to work on the creation of a video presentation which was used on 19th of May 2017 in Cologne (Germany) by Belarusian and Latvian hockey federations as an application for a right to host this important sporting event. As a result we won. This is a great achievement for both countries… and me as well of course!
The request to create several videos for the application came to me very unexpectedly. On the wave of “fame” after the creation of “20 facts about Belarus” video, a manager from Belarusian Hockey Federation contacted me and asked if I am interested in the project. I thought that must be some kind of joke. But then I understood this was not a joke and if I sad “yes” and sign a contract, I would work for governments — both Belarusian and Latvian. However those thoughts where floating in my mind for about just 1 millisecond. I agreed almost instantly. And never regretted.
As I mentioned before, there were a few videos I was working on. One of them was even made in the trendy that time “Dear Mr President” style AKA Trump voice parody. But this was never used and I cannot publish it due to known reasons.
All in all this was one of the best project I have ever participated in so far. On top of it I was hugely thankful again to my brother Yan Supanenka who composed 2 soundtracks for the videos and contributed to their success.
I gathered a huge experience, learned a lot of things and obviously I am very proud that government organization did not go to a random huge video production company but to me.
